Thank you for your interest in applying to be part of the UpStart Accelerator!
The Bay Area UpStart Accelerator program stimulates the progress of the most promising ideas of Bay Area-based Jewish social entrepreneurs. Through individualized consultations, group learning and a dynamic peer network, the UpStart Accelerator program helps selected entrepreneurs develop and implement their vision, build their capacities, work toward fiscal sustainability, scale their impact, and adapt to shifting needs. UpStarters will gain access to networks and resources needed to achieve maximum organizational effectiveness. This program is fully supported by generous contributions and requires a nominal fee from participants, once selected.
The UpStart Accelerator application cycle will re-open in early 2104. While the process may change, please see below for the 2013 application process to understand what may be required of potential applicants:
Step 1) Give us a call for a consultation after January 14
Call 415-536-5918. You will be asked a few basic questions about your organization or project that are designed to give us a sense of what you have been working on, what stage of development your project or organization is in, and what type of support you are seeking from UpStart. Potential applicants are encouraged to complete this step as soon as possible.
Step 2) Have a pre-application meeting
After your initial consultation, the information you provided will be reviewed by an UpStart consultant. All candidates will be contacted and those that show the most potential will be asked to set up a meeting with a member of our consulting staff.
Step 3) Complete the online application before March 8
After meeting with one of our consultants, select candidates will be asked to fill out the 2013 UpStarter Application. The application seeks to gain a deeper understanding of your innovative idea. It covers material that assesses the sustainability of your organization or project, your vision, and your desired impact on the Jewish community. The application deadline is March 8, 2013.
Step 4) Finalist interviews held during the week of May 6
Finalists will be invited to interview with our selection panel composed of community leaders. This will happen during the week of May 6, 2013.
Step 5) 2013-2014 UpStarter Cohort selection by May 21
Candidates will be notified of the results of their final interview by May 21, 2013.
We look forward to learning more about your project/organization.
