Think You May be an UpStarter?
If you’ve got an intense entrepreneurial spirit and a project that can really impact Jewish life, you’ve come to the right place.
Check out some of our current band of UpStarters and you’ll see they work in wildly different realms. But they all share something at the core: A passion for changing the world and a willingness to put everything they’ve got into making it happen.
Those of us at Upstart recognize this spirit, and when we see it, we light up. That’s our passion – finding those creative and innovative spirits, cultivating them, and helping to develop and implement their vision, their business focus, and their capacity to continue to innovate.
This spirit of Jewish innovation is non-negotiable. And it can’t be taught. But there are many, many things that can be taught, which is exactly what we do for the UpStarters who are accepted into our program.
UpStarters come to us with a purpose that sings through every cell in their body. They have a range of skills as varied as their vision, and the innate capacity to get others excited. But somewhere along the line each has discovered that while their spirit of innovation is essential, it is not enough to create a thriving organization.
Because to succeed, you need business and organizational development skills. A place to work. Education. Mentorship. Connections. Funding. The right information and the right people, at the right time. Our one-on-one business consulting helps you to understand the needs and wants of your audience, embrace opportunities, jump hurdles, and take risks. And, because you’re creating Jewish experiences, Upstart nourishes your Jewish soul and supports your drive to create transformative experiences. The UpStarter group programs give you the strength and support needed to last out the long haul.
And what do we expect from our UpStarters? Quite a lot. It’s a three-year program and, as with success in anything, you’ll need to show up, dig in, and be committed to your own success…and the success of your colleagues. You’ll need to set benchmark goals and meet them. You’ll need to communicate. And most importantly, you’ll need to have your hunger, discipline, and focus to see your idea succeed.
