Innovation and Tradition: Is There Anything New Under the Sun?
with Maya Bernstein, UpStart Bay Area
Throughout Jewish history, there has been a paradoxical, simultaneous lust away from tradition, into new possibilities, and towards tradition, lest we lose what is precious. Does Judaism encourage innovation? How is it defined? Who has the authority to innovate? How far from tradition can we wander? Using the lens of the Written and Oral Torah, this session will explore notions of tradition and innovation.
