Most startups fail. Most new innovations are not successful. But it doesn't have to be that way. "The Lean Startup" is a disciplined approach to imagining, designing, and delivering new products, programs and organizations. The Lean Startup approach creates innovations that are more likely to succeed and increases the productivity and creativity within your organization.
The evening's talk will address questions like:
- How can you determine which new ideas are worth investing your staff time and dollars in?
- How should you measure progress in the very early stages of a new program or product?
- How do you find out who the audience for your product or program is - and how can you reach them most effectively?
Eric Ries is the creator of the Lean Startup methodology, which has rapidly grown to a worldwide movement. He is the author of the popular entrepreneurship blog Startup Lessons Learned and of the forthcoming book The Lean Startup (Crown Publishing, Fall 2011 - preorders available at lean.st) He previously co-founded and served as Chief Technology Officer of IMVU, a successful social entertainment company. In 2007, BusinessWeek named Ries one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech and in 2009 he was honored with a TechFellow award in the category of Engineering Leadership. He serves on the advisory boards of a number of technology startups, and has worked as a consultant to startups, public companies, and venture capital firms.
